It’s like Nigerian men are too tired and uninterested to celebrate themselves with the silence everywhere on their Day. Don’t complain o when women start doing “yala yolo” celebration on their own numerous international days despite their own stress too.
Increasingly, responsible men have become beasts of burden, carrying varied responsibilities on their heads, hearts, shoulders, eyes, brains, hands, legs and every functional parts of their bodies. Monetary responsibilities, emotional, family upkeep and stability, and of course, hidden or overt anti-stress extramarital responsibility which help many men to know that they are still men having lost the penile battle and authority at the home front because of economic and responsibility pressure. The synonym of man is Bill.
Cases of sexual dysfunction not caused by any underlying diseases are fastly increasing among men, who ordinarily by their age bracket, should still be active on the “field of play” at the home front. The common battle cry of many women (including distrungled sexually starved wives) is: “My man is not touching me again”, “his gun is not firing well again”.. Some caring but naive women even go into fasting and prayer as directed by their pastors and Alfas, for the lost battle due to early “penile retirement” to be won so that their men can be men again.
God doesn’t restore the lost penile firing power of men, government does with good economic policies that put money into people’s pocket and lady’s handbag, food on the table,. When factories are collapsing, markets are being closed, goods and services prices are flying higher and private enterprises are dying, access to basic things of life is denied due to bad governance, the home is hit harder and harder.
Man as the real or ceremonial head of the family gradually loses his name, authority, pride and his manhood. When a man reaches this stage and no help is in sight, he may be suicide prone. Third Mainland Bridge and other suicide routes become his destination. Men also cry, but unlike women, they cry inwardly.
“Zero Male Suicide” is the theme of this year’s International Men’s Day. It’s like the authors of the theme had Nigeria in mind with the increasing rate frustrated, angry, hungry and economically disempowered men commit suicide than women.. Suicide is not the solution, let all men, women, youths fight for good governance for economic advancement of all because not everyone can have access to stolen government fund or other financial crimes.
