The leadership of Human Rights Monitoring Agenda (HURMA Global Resource Initiative) has described the first lady of Lagos State, Dr. Mrs. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu as someone who is not ripe or fit for birthday celebration, but rather should be mourning with agonizing patients at some General Hospitals in Lagos State.
This statement was read in the speech delivered at the Lagos House in Alausa on Monday 8th of January by the Executive Director of HURMA, Comrade Buna Olaitan Isiak on the celebration of 57th birthday of the first lady.
On Monday 8th of January, 2024, dignitaries from across several states were gathered at the residence of Lagos State first lady, Dr. Mrs Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu to celebrate her birthday, with various expensive gifts. But members of the Human Rights Monitoring Agenda (HURMA Global Resource Initiative) led by its Executive Director, Comrade Buna Olaitan Isiak rather preferred to use the opportunity of that special day to visit General Hospitals in the state to assess the plight of patients and later go to her office in Alausa to brief the world on the results gathered.
Dr. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, who is the Chairman of the Committee of Wives of Lagos State Officials and a medical doctor by profession, clocks 57 today, January 8.
Somolu General Hospital, where the first lady, Dr. Ibijoke once served as a Medical Director with many failed promises was visited by the Human Rights group on the day. The Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, LASUTH was also visited and Patients were interviewed on what they are experiencing and their expectations.
Patients at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital LASUTH were glad to be interviewed by Rights Monitors crew on their general experience in the hospital, though non was ready to reveal details of their identity for fear of facing more troubles from the hospital management.
All patients interviewed had same conclusion, “if You Don’t Have Money, You Are Dead”.
According to them, patient have to buy everything, and the narration is just simply that “No Money, No Life”.
Going by the plethora of complaints and lamentation by patients and their relatives, who have cause to visit the General Hospitals for health care, the Human Rights Monitoring Agenda (HURMA) in its final address at the Lagos State House in Alausa, Ikeja had to conclude that the Lagos State First Lady, Dr. Mrs Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu is a failure and indeed a big disappointment to the medical profession.
“Charter 2 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, as amended, speaks on the Fundamental Objectives and Directive Principles of State Policy (Fundamental Obligation of the Government). Section 17, subsection 3(d) says: The State shall direct its policy towards ensuring that: there are adequate medical and health facilities for all persons.
“This is the basis of our agitation and anger and going by the plethora of complaints and lamentation by patients and their relatives, who have cause to visit the General Hospitals for health care, the Human Rights Monitoring Agenda (HURMA) have to conclude that the Lagos State First Lady, Dr. Mrs Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu is a failure and indeed a big disappointment to the medical profession.”
The Human Rights Monitors said in its media address that the first lady was simply celebrating her family’s theft on the people’s resources so far and expect her to look forward to Karma.
“May Almighty God address the rest of Dr. Mrs Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu’s life, just exactly the same way she addresses the plights of the poor and oppressed people of Lagos State.”
“This is our prayers at the HURMA office for the first lady of Lagos State, Her Excellency, Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, on her birthday this day, Monday 8th of January, 2024.”
