

The Ayangburen of Ikorodu Kingdom in Lagos State, Oba K.A Shotobi Adegorushe V of Ikorodu has been advised to urgently address a public broadcast to address all issues concerning safety of women in Ikorodu communities which is presently generating uproar across the state.
This advice was given in a live broadcast on a radio Nigeria station at Bond FM on Tuesday, April 30, by the Executive Director of Human Rights Monitoring Agenda (HURMA Global Resource Initiative), Comrade Buna Olaitan Isiak while addressing general complaints on human rights violation from the general public to HURMA office.
A group of concerned Christian women was broadcasted to have written a Save Our Soul letter to the Central Administrative Office of the Human Rights Monitors and recently published with title: “Ikorodu Traditional Festival: Lagos Sisters in Christ Write SOS to Rights Group, Claim Christian Lawyers Abandonment”.


The aggrieved Christian women according to report seek protection on acclaimed threat to their lives and other female family members in Ikorodu. This is due to the recent letter of warning sent out by the king of Ikorodu village, warning all female residents in the community and others to “stay away from Ikorodu on Thursday 16 May, 2024 or be killed by the traditional practitioners” according to their letter.
“We want to please beg you to use your good human rights organization to protect we Sisters in Christ in Ikorodu from our Oba and traditional practice people. The king write a letter to the general hospital to warn that any women should not come out on that day. Maybe they will kill us, please help us.
We think our pastors and Lawyers in Christ will protect us but they are like on the side of the traditional people maybe due to Politics and money or other benefits.

“We need your assistance and also want you to protect our identify because of safety of our life please.”
As claimed in the letter signed by one Sister Maria on behalf of others, the women expressed disappointment in Christian Lawyers and organisations in the state and call for urgent attention of the Human Rights Monitoring Agenda for protection.
The Executive Director of Human Rights Monitoring Agenda (HURMA), Comrade Buna Olaitan Isiak has however given assurance of “Protection of Law on All” through the coordinator of Ikorodu Unit of HURMA, Comrade Orimisan, according to the published report by Rights Monitors News.
Comrade Buna Olaitan Isiak while on live broadcast requested the Oba Ayangburen of Ikorodu whom the aggrieved Christian women must have been misconstrued, to address the public within 7 Days on the assurance of safety to all women and all.
The Human Rights leader joined the aggrieved woman to express true disappointment in those Religion Lawyers Association and organisations and these broadcasted to include both the Christian Lawyers Associations and Muslim Lawyers Associations and other popular and well respected Christian and Muslims Organizations like MSS, TMC, Body of Christ among others.
The Executive Director of HURMA, Comrade Buna Olaitan Isiak assures the Christian Women among others of the rule of law and general safety.
“No king can prevent anyone from going to hospital or any other places nor threaten to kill anyone. The Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria is supreme and have binding forces on all organs and people. Moreso the Chapter 2 of the Constitution has narrowed the Fundamental Objectives of government to Security of lives and properties. Kindly be assured of the Rule of Law”.
