Warns Against Actions That May Cause Crisis

The Human Rights Monitoring Agenda HURMA, through its radio program Labe-Ofin: Rule of Law on Bond FM 92.9, has called for calm and strict adherence to the law regarding the chieftaincy situation in Abule-Eko, Ijede.
The organization received complaints from residents who expressed fear over alleged plans to install another Baale in the community while the authentic Baale is still alive.
Addressing listeners today, HURMA cautioned the Oba/Kabiesi and all stakeholders to operate strictly within the permissibility of the Law. The organization noted that bypassing due process in traditional matters can lead to unrest, division, and a breach of peace.
HURMA Executive Director, Comrade Buna Olaitan Isiak said “The rule of law must be supreme in all our communities. We cannot have parallel authorities. This is how conflicts start. We urge dialogue and respect for existing structures,”
As part of its intervention, HURMA has promised to visit Abule-Eko community soon to mediate, document the issues, and engage all parties toward an amicable resolution.
