Some concerned residents of Somolu Local Government have written to the office of Human Rights Monitoring Agenda (HURMA Global Resource Initiative) for urgent intervention to ensue peace and stability within the local government area.
This is due to a gradual build up of protest by some aggrieved politicians using religious sentiment to subvert democracy and threaten peaceful coexistence amongst the somolu community .

In a viral video, the Muslim community in Somolu Local Government of Lagos State has disowned a controversial letter rejecting All Progressive Congress (APC) chairmanship candidate over his Christian faith. According to earlier reports, the controversial letter had sparked outrage and fears of religious tension in the area.
The Chief Imam of Somolu however, in a public interview however denied speaking for Somolu Muslim community, but simply presented a letter to express marginalisation of Muslims in state political representatives from Somolu.
The Human Rights Monitoring Agenda has however called on all the residents to be peaceful, not only in Somolu Local Government area but other affected constituencies across the state. HURMA finally advised prompt state intervention towards insuring peace through the state appeal network.
