The Executive Director of Human Rights Monitoring Agenda (HURMA Global Resource Initiative), Comrade Buna Olaitan Isiak has sent a note of commendation to Hon. Ademorin Kuye, Member representing Shomolu Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives over his recent inspection tour to flood-affected areas in Somolu Local Government and Bariga LCDA.
The statement by HURMA Executive Director, Comrade Buna says the report from Somolu Unit of HURMA through the unit coordinator, Comrade Monsur Akinremi called for special appreciation for the bold and pro-people action of MHR Kuye for on-the-spot assessment of areas recently impacted by flooding within his constituency.
According to Comrade Buna, the action of MHR Kuye who was accompanied by the Executive Chairman of Shomolu Local Government, Hon. Lateef Ashimi and his team, as lately reported from Somolu Unit of HURMA is indeed worthy of commendation so as to ensure that the tempo is upheld and not just occasional.
“We are pleased to receive encouraging report from Somolu Unit of HURMA on the recent action of MHR Kuye, representing Shomolu Constituency at the Federal House of Representatives.
“This action of the Second Term House of Rep member is long awaited and should therefore be commended as an encouragement to keep the tempo alive.
“Chapter 2 of the Constitution of Federal Republic of Nigeria speaks on Fundamental Objective and Directive Principle of State Policies where fundamental obligations are explained.
“Elected members of any legislative assembly, representing the people are supposed to be truly closer and available to the people whose interest and welfare should be their primary responsibilities and not to go and accumulate wealth for selfish interest.
“While we are calling on Rep Kuye to ensure that the people’s concerned flag currently being raised is sustained, we will appreciate others like Hon. Olowo among others that were known for such pro-people activities to join the general struggle for the emancipation of the poor and oppressed members of the community. “This our call is not limited to Somolu Constituency, but as well to all others across the country”.
