

The office of Human Rights Monitoring Agenda (HURMA Global Resource Initiative) has been assigned by Somolu Local Government to assist in managing the palliative program for the local government so as to ensure unbiased distribution of the resources to truly worthy and deserving members of Somolu communities
The Chairman of Shomolu Local Government, Hon. Abdul-Lateef Ashimi, just like his predecessor, recently contacted the Executive Director of Human Rights Monitoring Agenda (HURMA Global Resource Initiative), Comrade Buna Olaitan Isiak to handle the palliative program for Somolu Local Government. The local government Chairman through the palliative program intends to share the amount of 50 million naira (#50m) among 500 Somolu residents who are poor and need assistance.


According to a meeting held with the Executive Director of HURMA, Comrade Buna Isiak and the Somolu Coordinator for HURMA, Comrade Monsur Akinremi, the palliative palliative scheme as a poverty alleviation program would be a continuous exercise so as to ensure spreading of the benefits to the general community without any compromise.
The invitation of HURMA as a foremost Human Rights and Anti-Corruption body to manage the palliative program is however based on trust and long time genuineness identified with the office in representing the true interest of the poor and oppressed members of the society.

Some similar community members with clean track records are also selected to form a palliative committee to work with HURMA office to assist in every way necessary.
At the first phase of the program held at Senator Oluremi Tinubu Hall at Somolu Local Government Secretariat on Thursday, 30th of October, 2025, the Executive Chairman of the Local Government, Hon. Abdul-Lateef Ashimi shared #100k each to 500 members of the community who were presented by HURMA. Moreso, some party leaders who were initially aggrieved for the choice of a non partisan body like HURMA to manage such big project, expressed their various appreciation for the choice which bridges all barriers and afterwards projects Somolu Local Government as a model for others across the nation.
In a remark at the November palliative event, Comrade Buna Olaitan Isiak commended the LG Boss and his predecessor, Hon Salawudeen Abdul-Hameed Dullar for given a listening hear towards ensuring the best available for the poor masses.
“Our ultimate target is total emancipation of the oppressed masses from all forms of exploitation and oppression. We will however ensure we achieve the best within available networks and on this we shall continue to appreciate the Local Government Chairman, Hon. Abdul-Lateef Ashimi as well as his predecessor, Hon. Salawudeen Abdul-Hameed Dullar for giving a listening hear and complete readiness to serve the people elected to represent
